Neil is a third year medical student at Duke University who is interested in medical device design and health care innovation. Utilizing his background in bioengineering, he has developed a self-cleaning laparoscope that aims to reduce procedure time and patient complications. He currently holds a provisional patent for the device and has been a finalist in several design competitions, including those held by the National Institutes of Health. He is currently a Visiting Graduate at UCSF's Pediatric Device Consortium and is working on several medical device design projects, including redesigning catheter hubs to minimize catheter-based blood stream infections and developing novel graspers for endoscopic procedures. His long term goal becoming an academic clinician who is involved with health care innovation.
